Lock & Alert gives individuals control over who can access their Equifax credit report, with certain exceptions. By simply clicking or swiping, users can easily lock or unlock their Equifax credit report. Notifications are sent every time the report is locked or unlocked.

Lock & Alert is a free service for consumers in the United States. It provides added protection against identity theft by allowing users to lock their Equifax credit report.

If you need to apply for credit, you can conveniently unlock your Equifax credit report using the app with a simple swipe or click. Once you're finished, just swipe or click again to lock it.

To assist users while using the app, there is a Support tab available with frequently asked questions and customer service contact information.

Users can sign in to the Lock & Alert app using Touch ID, Face ID, or by entering their username and password.

Note: Lock & Alert and myEquifax have separate accounts. Unless you registered with the same credentials for both services, your Lock & Alert credentials will be different from your myEquifax username and password. If this is your first time using Lock & Alert, please select "Sign up."

Locking your Equifax credit report will restrict access by certain third parties. However, it will not prevent access to your credit report at other credit reporting agencies. Entities that may still have access to your Equifax credit report include: companies like Equifax Consumer Services LLC that provide access to your credit report or credit score as part of a subscription or similar service; companies that supply you with a copy of your credit report or credit score upon request; federal, state, and local government agencies and courts under specific circumstances; companies using the information for insurance underwriting, employment screening, tenant screening, or background checks; companies that have an existing account or relationship with you, and collection agencies acting on behalf of your debtors; companies that authenticate a consumer's identity for purposes other than credit granting or fraud prevention; and companies wishing to offer you pre-approved credit or insurance offers.
